The Gospel of John: John 1:1

John 1:1–5, 14 | OneTwo Church | May 31, 2026

BIG IDEA

Jesus is God's heart spoken out loud.He is the Word — eternal, alive, and shining in every darkness.

1. Words Change Everything

John 1:1

Words are invisible — but they alter everything. One sentence can start a war, heal a marriage, or end a life as we knew it.

John says Jesus is the Word of God. Meaning: Jesus is God's nature made visible. God's thoughts and heart — walking around in human flesh.

2. The Eternal Word

John 1:1–3 | Colossians 1:16–17

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Three staggering truths in one verse:

All things were made through Him. Jesus is not a guru or a religious leader — He is the source and sustainer of all life, matter, thought, and Spirit.

3. In Him Was Life

John 1:4 | 2 Corinthians 5:17

The Greek word here is zoe — not mere biological life (bios), but the life principle itself. Jesus doesn't just give life. He is life.

Only something alive and intelligent can produce life. Jesus created it once at the beginning. He creates it again in every person who believes.

"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." — 2 Corinthians 5:17
